The Challenge
Jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer Veronica Leahy needed a personal brand that captured her work as a creative and collaborative force in the music industry. For artists, particularly those in music, literature, and fine arts, crafting a personal brand can feel a bit uncomfortable if necessary. Therefore we needed to make sure the brand placed emphasis on the music and her creative process rather than her person.
The Solution
We offered Veronica a Personal Brand Starter kit. We began by interviewing her extensively about her creative process, what inspired her to create music, what instruments she was drawn to, and of course her musical influences. Then we had her walk us through her career as a musician and the various challenges and triumphs she had faced.
Once we felt we understood Veronica well enough, we began piecing brand elements we felt represented her style. Then we compiled these elements into a brandscape that evoked a sleek jazzy style with splashes of rich color to reflect her creativity. The warm colors and friendly type signified Veronica’s collaborative style and manifold influences.
Finally, we helped Veronica create and launch her personal website which included both a short- and long-form bio, and, most importantly, a library of all of her music and accomplishments. Listeners and clients are now able to easily access Veronica’s music to get a greater understanding of her talents and processes.
The Result
The most important aspect of an artist’s brand is the art itself. The brand must be in service to that art and deliver a coherent experience that sets the stage for the audience. Veronica’s brand and website successful express the collaborative and vivacious style of her music, while maintaining a sleek and professional image befitting a master musician and composer. The library of her works has never made it easier to access her music and explore her unique take on an ever-evolving form.
